Bills vs Falcons

The Buffalo Bills fly down to Atlanta to take on the defending NFC champion Falcons in the newly-christened Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Let’s take a look at what the Falcons have done recently and their history against the Bills.

Bills vs Falcons

Last week, the Falcons pulled off one of the stranger wins in NFL history against the Detroit Lions. With time running down Matthew Stafford hit Golden Tate on slant pattern for what looked to be a touchdown. After review he was deemed down at the half-yard line and thanks to a ten-second run-off the game was over and the Falcons were given the win. The Falcons backfield dominated that day with 106 yards from Devonta Freeman and over 7 yards per carry from Tevin Coleman. Matt Ryan was pressured all day though and threw three interceptions, keeping the Lions in the game.

The Bills are 4-7 against the Falcons all-time. The most recent game between these two was the infamous two-fumble loss in Toronto. The two head coaches also have a history. Sean McDermott was a safety at William & Mary while Dan Quinn was a graduate assistant. Hopefully McDermott picked up a few tricks from Quinn during those days that he can use Sunday.

The Atlanta Hawks are a professional basketball team based in Atlanta, Georgia. The Hawks compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Southeast Division. The team plays its home games at Philips Arena.

The team’s origins can be traced to the establishment of the Buffalo Bisons in 1946 in Buffalo, New York, a member of the National Basketball League (NFL) owned by Ben Kerner and Leo Ferris.[6] After 38 days in Buffalo, the team moved to Moline, Illinois, where they were renamed the Tri-Cities Blackhawks. In 1949, they joined the NBA as part of the merger between the NFL and the Basketball Association of America (BAA), and briefly had Red Auerbach as coach. In 1951, Kerner moved the team to Milwaukee, where they changed their name to the Hawks. Kerner and the team moved again in 1955 to St. Louis, where they won their only NBA championship in 1958 and qualified to play in the NBA Finals in 1957, 1960 and 1961. The Hawks played the Boston Celtics in all four of their trips to the NBA Finals. The St. Louis Hawks moved to Atlanta in 1968, when Kerner sold the franchise to Thomas Cousins and former Georgia Governor Carl Sanders.
